SIMS Homepage error message

We have started our new school year this week. Now when I log into SIMS, I get the following message, and my Homepage doesn't display. 'An error occurred configuring the home page. Object Reference not set to an instance of an object''. We have tried re-installing SIMS on my laptop, and I have logged onto other machines, and still get the message. I have also tried removing all of the panels from my homepage configuration, but it won't let me save it. :confused:

Can anyone suggest anything that I can try?

What time periods are you looking at? if the panels are set to previous year/fortnight that might be the problem

They are looking at the previous school year, but I am the only person having the problem, and it won't let me go back to the default setting and reconfigure the panels.

If you have a fault code, there is a topic with all the codes in there - might have your fault listed.
If not, there are a load of other categories available, they might have a KB entry in there...?

That's a really useful link, shame it's not searchable. A fault code usually only occurs when there is a SIMS Exception and it throws you out of the application. I don't think this is happening here, or is it?

The best way to search a fault code is to click on the search for solution button when the pop up appears or append "=" and the code to the URL at the following link:

I don't have an error code, just the message which I started the thread with. I am our Data Manager, and have access to pretty much every area. Everything was fine on Monday, but on Tuesday we began our new Academic Year, and I now can't access my Homepage. I appear to be the only person on site who has the problem.

I've seen it somewhere before but i dont recall what the issue was. I'm pretty sure it was that the user was newly added or something had changed and they didn't have the correct permissions to something. We use custom permissions groups so it can happen a lot.
It's the one where you get no panels at all and just a message in the middle right? or is it a pop up?
What is the error you get when trying to reconfigure, there should be something in the bottom left in red which will help..

Yes, I get the message in a box in the middle of the screen, and then no panels appear on my homepage. If I try to make any configuration changes, and save them, I get a box in the middle of the screen saying 'Unable to configure Homepage'. It is really annoying now, and I am wondering if I may need to have my SIMS id recreated.

Isn't it a bit early for a new Academic Year?

This is the second year, that we have started our new Academic year in June. Must admit it does cause issues in certain areas.

I would try another SIMS user on your workstation (logged onto Windows as your user on your machine), does this work?

It does. It only seems to be my SIMS id that is affected, unfortunately :(

And have you logged onto SIMS as your SIMS user on another workstation as another Windows user - which you haven't logged onto before.
