YaY!!! BETA!!!! Wooo... now if only I had the time to play.
It ain't for playing with Matt! ...... It's for real! :D
I think you will enjoy it! :D
And the spec has been reduced!
With not getting support direct from Capita we have no toys. :-(
Curse my laptop for blowing itself up and leaving me on an Intel on-board graphics system. Don't think it will run?
You may well be pleasantly surprised! Some older and supposedly lower spec machines have proved reasonable.
That is why it was hard to produce a minimum spec.
Nooooo! Discover was my ticket to a higher spec computer! Now, how do I hide this new development from my SMT?
While I'm on it, would anyone be willing to advise me that there is just no way that Discover can be effectively used without 2 monitors? Or a beer fridge in my office?
I bet your SMT don't use Edugeek! So you should be safe!
I highly recommend two monitors for Discover! Drop your graphs on one screen and create your Venn on the second. Magic!
However, you can use it on a single monitor and future releases are hoping to address issues such as zooming the graphs and clicking to grid.
Got it running on my laptop, completely standalone with a large secondary school database, non-tweaked. Bit slow in places.
Laptop is a C2D 2.4GHz, 3GB, Mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD. To be honest, having SQL2008 installed isn't helping, nor is the dieing HDD ;)
Key point, it's working :)
Hee hee!
Congrats Matt. Hope you like it - so far!
So far so good, it installs to program files\sims\ and it works, so I'm happy. We'll see what the others think.
And there is a direct link from SIMS via Focus, Assessment, Discover
The Configuration (where you will run the transfers, setups etc from) is via Programs, SIMS Applications, Discover Configure.
At least that is the FT version!
Can someone confirm that it uses a separate database, or was that just the field trial?
Nooo.... When you install it, it installs to program files\sims\, I hate when they do stuff like program files\solus3... ok really it should be program files\capita\solus3, but legacy means it should be program files\sims\solus3. Yes, I know, sad, but I like my logic!!
