As an ex-Head of Science I am more used to the mathematical symbol ≠ to mean 'not-equal-to'. Far more understandable to us old-timers than some 'geeky' symbol not widely recognised by others! It's also only one symbol rather than the 2 that you have used and so it takes less effort to type it! :)
