Lookup table in Assessment Manager?

How could I do some kind off lookup table in AM? I have some grade boundaries I want to convert to something else. Each step of the grades could be up to 5 points difference eg 80-85 = A 75-79 = B.
I thought I could use a grade set and use the points value in some kind of formula to convert it back to a grade in another grade set (No idea if that would work), but I wondered if there was a more straight forward way than this?

Have a look at topic 25942 on SupportNet forum. Works fine exploiting the lookup formula. I have some templates that have some formulas using values of the gradeset and some using values from a lookup, off the same grade aspect.

There is the function of having a lookup table, but sounds like you're after Marks to Grade formula. Is that in the article? Having trouble getting on to SupportNet at the mo'.

Ah - well spotted Vik. Never tried the reverse, but the only problem probably would be that the lookup function acts like a vlookup(x,x,x,FALSE) rather than a TRUE which is what would be better for a grade boundary lookup. I expect you would have to enter every single value to map to each grade which would be a bit of a pain. I dont know if there is a limit of number of rows in the lookup builder, but assuming thats not an issue, then its still a quick job, since you can create the table in Excel and simply copy/paste into the lookup builder in SIMS.

I thought it would handle middle values and round down to the nearest, if that's what you mean.

I use the "marks to grade" column to convert grades between gradesets: it always rounds down to the nearest grade, which is fine for us but may not be what you want.

e.g.
a=58 (anything above 58 would become a)
b=50 (anything between 50 and 57 becomes b)
c=42 (anything between 42 and 49 becomes c)

I did get it working with the lookup but it is good to know about the rounding down as this will simplify things a little when applicable.
