Existing SIMS server slowing down - spec?
I've had a few reports lately that our SIMS server is running slower than usual. It's running on ESX virtual hosts so I gave it more memory to see if that helped, but it doesn't seem to have.
Then yesterday I was at a Network Managers meeting and I heard people talking about their SIMS server having 8GB of memory - ours has 3GB...
The SIMS virtual server has 2x 2.237GHz CPUs and 3GB memory. Database is 4GB, with 150+ users (of which probably 100 should be using it at a time for registers at the beginning of each lesson).
It's currently Windows Server 2003 32-bit (not R2) so I know 4GB is the maximum there but if we need to install 2003 R2 or 2008 to up the memory then we can do - the hardware is 64-bit. Being virtual, we can increase the memory allocation easily - we have plenty spare capacity.
How much memory should I be giving this server?
