SIMS exporting new year 7 pupils to Fronter

Hi,

I've been doing a lot of work on Fronter, getting it ready for the new year etc... when I noticed that our All Students Group contained more pupils that it should.

On closer inspection the VLEExport tool that SIMS uses seems to have exported our new year 7 pupils all of which are still in the "accepted" stage - none have been admitted!

I'm going to raise a case with our local support unit on Monday but, I was wondering if anybody else has seen anything like this - or is it supposed to work like that??

This would be correct, they won't, or rather shouldn't appear until they have stepped into the building on the first day of term.

However, if the Sims export had not been deactivated (as it seems it hasn't) then everyone that is in your Sims will be exported to Fronter. There was an advisory from Fronter earlier in the year about this as I raised the same issue when I noticed I had more pupils than I should have. The "new" pupils are in limbo until they are admitted in September.

As I understand it, you can deactivate the MIS export feature in Fronter until such time as you are ready for the new school. Then reactivate it and do a full export, which should roll the school forward. There is a document on the Fronter Support site about it.

The import is now deactivated. This looked like it happened before the end of the term as thats when the import was deactivated.

However, surely pupils still in the accepted stage shouldn't be exported.

Well that's what I thought, but apparently they are. I have put in a change request in case there's a setting that can be tweaked in the export command.
