Hi
I am no SIMS expert but when SIMS is updating the client machines and they freeze and don’t update, what is causing this and how can it be fixed?
Thanks

Could it be local user permissions? SIMS might be trying to write something that needs admin privalages to be written. To fix a knackered SIMS client install, complete un-install and install again from scratch seems to fix most problems. Another solution (one that I'm considering) might be to run the SIMS client over terminal services instead of locally on each machine, save having to update clients at all.

Hi
Its not rights because it does it on some machines and i am updating on my desktop and i have full admin rights.

Could it be volume of traffic or too many clients trying to get at the same setup.exe file at once?
No becuase i was doing it remotely from home at 9:45 ish
Have you got any UNC's in your C:\Windows\SIMS.INI? If you have, change them to the actual drive mapping instead.
nope thats not it.
I had this after the most recent upgrade.
Even if the user was in the local admin group sometimes the upgrade would fail for no reason.
However, I found that if I logged on to the client machine as a user with FULL domain admin rights, it worked.
Might be worth a go?
Well thats the thing i have them all and it still didnt do it, i left it for 3 hours and it did it after all that time.
aahh....the joys of SIMS.
Oh well, glad you got it sorted.
Yes but 3 hours for each person that is ridiculous.
I have another separate problem but I think I new post might be in order. I hate this software!
