PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
We have the "Allow user to automatically login based upon windows login" option checked in PARS, so it's faster to use.
One of my users has had their SIMS password changed, and I can't seem to break the link between windows login and their old password.
So far I have tried:
Turned off "automatically logon", got them to log in successfully using new sims credentials and then turned it back on - still get the error.
Deleted their SIMS /Pars folders in Profiles and then retry the above.
Anyone know how to reset the association?
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
Interesting... I have a related problem. I had this enabled for some users and changed my mind! Howver, even though I have now switched it off - any machine a particular user has ever been on - still logs in automatically as them - even if they haven;t logged into windows!!

Andy,
Response from PARS Helpdesk was:
Try holding down the "down arrow" key on the keyboard immediately after double clicking the shortcut to PARS, if you do this quickly enough it will force a login box allowing you to enter the new login.
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
Best keeping it switched off via user permissions in system management for security purposes. Is ok if your in a locked technical room or office however not the best option if teachers forget to log off and students can 'attack!'
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
@Jenny,
Teacers use Pars via a thin client that locks the session after 10 mins and they're only used for SIMS / Pars.
Teachers log on, take the register and then break the connection, leaving Pars open in a disconnected session.
I'd have a mutiny if it was "log into windows, log into pars, take register, log out of pars," every 50 minutes. :)
Edit: I see the folks at PARS have recently discovered edugeek?
@Andy,
the above solution (though a wonderfully obscure feature) didn't solve my issue - did it yours?
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
Pete; I am working from home today although havent got much done as I've ended up reading though this site!
Back in the office tomorrow and I will put this to my technical guys to see what they suggest if thats ok. Always interested in things like this as I may be asked whilst onsite at another school.
Will keep you posted :)
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
@Jenny,
They already know about it (case open), I'm just so used to Edugeek giving me answers faster than the people who make the software (and Pars are pretty good at fixing stuff) that I tend to ask my questions here first. :)
Re: PARS - unlink windows and SIMS login?
Okey dokey.... I have noticed that people seem to get advice for software they use on here. Surprised how slow some suppliers are at reacting! (no names mentioned of course) rather shocking :(
