Not that I'm aware of. If the SIMS technical Roadmap (Dated Jan 2012!!!) is anything to go by, Windows 8 is not "officially" supported until the SIMS Spring 2013 release. Office 2013 is not on the current road map but for some reason, SIMS Autumn 2013 rings a bell for support (though I'm not 100%).
Jonathan Wood said he was going to post the new technical roadmap on Friday gone but no sign of it yet. :( @PhilNeal, can we expect to see it this week?
I've read on a few posts that some people have installed SIMS on Windows 8 for testing and it 'appears' to work but I would not go live with either Win 8 or 2013 in your live environment until they are officially supported.
Someone definitely has that combo for testing, and so far no reported issues, but they haven't really pushed the system yet, and it's reports that is likely to go funny.
May help to report that my windows 7 pc running Office 2013 has no problems with individual reports using AM.
Office 2013 now supported from Autumn 2013.
Just wait for the sims metro app.
Just installed Windows 8 at home.
My first thought is, how the heck am I going to talk someone through a SIMS solution?
I'd suggest you stick with Win 7 and Office 2010 which is a support platform for running SIMS. As soon as you run into problems you'll start questioning whether the problem's with Win 8, Office 2013 or SIMS itself sods law.
Hi Kyle, i'm running all 3 successfully, there was a few tweaks to start with but after that all works good. i'm using win 8 64bit office 2013 32 bit and all ok you do have to give access to the "Sims" group or user of the computer full access to c:\program files \sims or it keeps coming up with locate the connect.ini file ( right click run as administrator on Sims.exe also works but not every time) . let me know if you struggle and I might be able to help
cheers
Dave
We've just got our first Windows 8 laptop up and running here at the LA for testing. Planning on installing SQL2012 Express with SIMS and FMS, and SQL2008R2 for Discover over the half term.
First time I've actually used Windows 8 before. Some things make me go "Ooooo" and others make me go "WTF?!"
