ePortal email notification?
Does anyone know if it's possible to send emails from within ePortal.
I'd like to see a workflow process where a teacher inputs an event eg. student behaviour, and their head of faculty receives email notification when the button is clicked to submit the event information into ePortal/CMIS.
Has anybody tried this, think it's possible to modify it to do this sort of thing?
any help appreciated.
thanks,
Simon

Re: ePortal email notification?
Hi Simon,
Although it is possible to send emails from ePortal, it doesn't quite work how you would like. By editing the settings.xml file you can get ePortal to connect to a POP3 and SMTP server to send/receive emails within ePortal itself (being available under the Main Menu | Messaging | Check Emails and Send Email etc).
This is quite a nice feature when set up correctly and if you can get teachers ePortal username/password to match their email username/password they don't even need to log in again as it tries these first. If their username/passwords don't match the a simple login page appears. Each person needs an email recording against their record within Facility. Using this staff can send emails to students and each other etc.
However, I haven't seen anything yet which allows automatic email general based on certain circumstances, e.g. the creation of a student event. However that would be a nice feature. I'm sure it could be added but would require access to the source code for ePortal.
Thanks
Matt

we've moved away from eportal for student conduct logs all together due to the lack of an email facility when events are created.

sunny75:
looks like they could do with someone who can spell and also manage the English langauge:
quote "click on a chapter button bellow to view a tutorial on how to check that part of your child's information" unquote.
not being picky but should it not be "below" not "bellow" and the sentence is not grammatical.
Meant in a friendly way.
