I've setup a GPO as glennda suggested and ive tested it on one machine so far and it seems ok! Will test on a couple more machines just to double check.

No, it's not usually sorted out this quickly, and you've done it the best way rather than run the simsperm.bat or run around and upgrade them all manually, which is what we did when we first went to Windows 7.

We added the below to group policy for the recent upgrade and had only very minor issues. The result was that some users got a pop-up asking if they wanted to let the file run, and this happened up to three times. Usually they opened another app in front, and so didn't see the pop-up box. They do tend to be local admins here on our network.

    In,
Computers Config \ Windows Settings \ Security Settings \ File System

Grant All Staff Full control over,

%localappdata% - which is their personal copy of the temp folder
    C:\program files\sims\ – to add files
C:\windows\sims.ini – to update file version info
C:\windows\temp\ – just in case it stores any temp files.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start menu\Programs\SIMS Applications\ - In case they change the icons or shortcuts.
The bottom one doesn't exist in Windows 7, it's an XP location, but it does exist if you type it in, and it worked.
