Discover install userid?
Hi ,
just installing Discover for the first time - all went reasonably well but when trying to populate the Discover database ( using the Discover Configuration program) for the first time I get a login box which wont' accept any userid/pw I know of - any ideas which userid/pw it's after?
TIA for any help
Cheers
Chris

5th January 2012, 02:50 PM #2 I have had the same problem as this, I couldn't find any accurate information as to what was wrong on Supportnet. It is meant to be a normal SIMS user ID and password (I guess one with access to Assessment).
I got it sorted through luck really. I installed the Discover Client on another PC and ran the initial transfer from there. I guess i went into the Server's task scheduler and ran the Discover tasks manually quite a few times too.
I can't give you an accurate reason as to why, but that fixed it for me.

did you make a new user and assign the service to start with that user as per the installation PDF's steps?

I thought the creation of new users was only for hosted Discover - in our installation the same server which is being used for Sims is used for Discover

2nd February 2012, 09:20 PM #7 Did you install Discover onto the same SQL instance as SIMS? Just the default install shares the same user\pass ie the MASTER database. If not you have to do extra work (sorry, I've not tried it yet). If you check the manual, you should be a member of certain groups to use the transfer - Assessment Manager or SMT team rings a bell.
Hope that helps

3rd February 2012, 03:38 PM #8 Also check you have the corresponding versions of Discover and SIMS .net so no version mismatches.
No I didn't create a new user for the transfer process - it's a while ago now, but I would have used either a local or network service account.

6th February 2012, 05:59 PM #9 I had this, I don't know what the solution ended up being as our county helpdesk cleared it up on the server.
someone from here gave me the idea to add the user to the server admins in order to get it working, I suggested that, but wasn't involved after.
now I need to know why the groups that are set up initially delete themselves when upgraded.
the configuration utility on it isn't very robust either.
