    FMS Module - Error 217

    Afternoon,

Is there an issue that sees FMS fail to work with a mapped network printer? We are having this issue and have been told by our LEA support that it needs to be a local printer. This is a pain as we are trying to remove local printers that cannot be put against cost centres in pCounter.

    Any advice appreciated (or workarounds),

    Cheers

    Gareth

I have it on my win7 box with a default network printer. It is fussy about printers though. Have you tried another printer.
I'm sure this was in another thread not that long ago..

I was told you don't need to worry about having a printer on the Autumn 11 release of FMS.

This error has been around ever since I started working at the LA almost 3 years ago! Capita have no know fix, and we have no permanent solutions either. It seems to be VERY temperamental at times. the only two "workarounds" I've come across are:

    1. Change the default printer to a different printer (local or network), log into FMS. If it logs in normally, close it down, change the default printer back to the original one and then load FMS again. 9 times out of ten, this seems to get it working. Failing that...

    2. Delete the network printer and then reinstall it fresh, then set it as default.

I'm hoping what @matt40k has heard is correct! this problem annoys me greatly!

Yep, we tend to choose another network printer and it works fine. Slightly bizarre bug / errorr.
