Tidy and merge contacts
Does this exist? I was almost certain I remembered performing a house keeping routine to merge duplicate contacts sometime last year, but I can't find anything now...

Do you mean merge addresses?
Tools - Housekeeping - Bulk Address Tools.

No, actual contacts - I know we have some duplicates in there, but I thought I remembered running a routine to deal with them last year... perhaps I did it manually...

In that case I'm pretty sure it's a separate utility.
EDIT: I've had a look and can't find anything, sorry.
EDIT II: I have found patch 15156 Delete Student Contact ???

I have never come across a Merge Contact routine.
I have always done this manually by removing associated students from one contact to another and then deleting the copntact that no longer has any associated students!

You can run the run the Delete unlinked contacts routine - the merge facilities are for adresses, agents and agencies.
