    Simsinst.exe Issues

    Hi All,

    Hope you can shed some light on this??

    I'm having a little trouble installing SIMS on to client machines using simsinst.exe...

    Error message is: This installation detected an old version of SIMSSQLInfrastructureSetup.exe Please ensure you have the latest version, then restart this installation.

    Clients are Windows XP with DotNet 4 Full... (Although... I'm having the same problem with Windows 7 also)

    Have a mapped drive pointing to the share containing SIMS.

    Am I missing a trick here?

    Gav

    In your Setups folder, what is the version number of your SIMSSQLInfrastructureSetup.exe?

    I must admit that I have not actually installed with this and it is Training data.

    @GeekyGav ..
    I think upgrading to 1.602.1.0 is the first step.

    Are you running it with local admin rights? Or try running "SIMSApplicationSetup.exe" to install clients, as the SIMSINST calls this file. I've had a lot of problems with Windows 7 but not XP.

    How did you get on. If you download an update CD iso from SupportNet for the version of SIMS you are currently on, then you should be able to find the relevant files you need there. Backup the old one, copy in the new and try again.

    I can't imagine how Office even knows about the SIMS setup file, maybe Capita have bought a stake in Microsoft
