Has anyone found any problems with SIMS and Office 2007?
Our LEA is insisting that CAPITA advise that O2k7 is incompatible with SIMS (esp Marksheets)
We've been running the 2 together with no problems , then the latest update was applied (7.93) and all hell has broken loose..
Main problems have been with:
FMS, OPTIONS module & Exams module - again our LEA is blaming Office 2007, but im not so sure it is as the problems are happening when there is no interaction between SIMS and Office 2007 - no importing, exporting, etc.
So my Query is - Has anyone else had problem with the 2 apps (before or after the 7.93 update) or know if Capita are actually stating a problem with Ofice 2007?

Capita have stated a problem with Office 2007 several times IIRC.

I don't think we have found many issues at all but we are testing for an August delivery. I tend to agree that problems with FMS/Options are unlikely to be down to Office 2007

Hi Phil
Our LEA are claiming problems with marksheets? though our SLT have run various reports and marksheets with Office 2007 installed.
not sure what the exam module problem was, but installed office 2003 as a precaution so will check that out when i get back on monday.

It is quite possible that there are issues as we really haven't finished testing it all yet. I was just concerned that the FMS issue seemed unlikely to be a 2007 issue and therefore did need following up.

Hi there
We are thinking of rolling out Office 2007 during half term. Are the SIMS/2007 problems now over?
Cheers

Not been having much problems with O2k7 and SIMS oflate - think it was our LEA that buggered things up before..

As far as i can remember Capita's general advise was that Office 2007 and August upgrade was a bad idea.

Cheers for the incredibly fast reply. I felt that loads of people were having trouble with it initially though, not just one LEA. Glad to hear that you're not having trouble though.

Cheers.
Do they have an official "it's ok to use Office 2007 from here" date anywhere?

I think the message was quite clear from Capita and all LEAs not to move forward with Vista and office 2007 for the foreseeable future until advised to do so by said advisory teams.
I don't know what all the rush is about? It works well with 2003 and XP.

Right, it's just that we're rebuilding the whole admin domain during half term, and since we have been entitled to use 2007 from last November we thought that that would be a good time to install it.
We'll have to wait I guess.
Thanks for the info.

Cant say I've seen the Roadmap so I really couldnt say when SIMS .NET would be compatible with Vista and Office 2007. It was pretty much 'Dont do it till we tell ya you can' kinda of thing (as bossman says), and as we are not looking at Vista and Office 2007 for the moment i didnt question it. General rule of thumb for me is wait till the first couple of service packs then wait somemore before even considering deploying it.

No, we won't be installing Vista for a few years. No way that the hardware will cope for a long time. Would have been nice to get Office 2007 out there though.
