    SIMS support

Just a licensing question. Our LA hold the overall license for the county and insist that all calls go through them which is a bit of a pain as we are setup differently from the other schools in the area. Is this true or can we go direct to capita for support.

    Cheers

If you want direct support you would need to opt out of LA support and enter a direct contract with Capita,

You may also have to buy your own license if the LEA won't continue letting you use theirs...

Licence and support are separate entities, you can buy either of them from whoever you wish, Your LA, another LA, a private company or Capita. You can also mix and match the two.

Our LA also hold the licence for SIMS and normally deal with support. We purchased top-up support from Capita which enables us to log calls direct with Capita and cut out the LA. You can buy it for individual module areas or the whole suite depending on your needs.

Quicker resolution to issues by cutting out what is effectivly the "middle man". Our LA don't have a problem with it, but then every one is different!

I'd be tempted to go for direct support, especially if your setup is different. It can often be more expensive, though it depends on the LA and what value added benefits you get (if any), sometimes it's a better deal, plus going direct can be way more efficient.

You can log support incidents via SupportNet, i don't know what happens if you have an LA contract, they might just defer you to them first, because that happened to us a few times.

You can also arrange with Capita to transfer the LEA license to your school. One-off cost of about £250.
