ePortal problem... my fault or their fault?
I use ePotral through external access (Internally, ePortal works fine) but when it comes to typing in reports (externally) it wont allow me. This is because if there are any suspicious characters in the text field the server returns a 500 error. WHY? somewhere along the road the data to be sent is being doubly encoded. Example "This is a test" goes to "This%.20is%.20a%.20test" then to "This%.2520is%.2520a%.2520test" The whitespace code is having its percent character encoded into %.25, which is code for a percent character. This is not exclusive to whitespace, but all reserved and unsafe url characters. What I want to know is this.....
ePortal sends the data like this internally and it allows it (although it doesnt decode them properly), as I dont know the configuration of the external access (because they wont let me know) what could be blocking it and causing the 500 internal server error. What would remedy it?
I do go on a bit
Cheers,
Matt

Yeah but I'm either being ignored or they just don't care. I've been trying to contact them for over a month stating exatly whats wrong and possibly how to fix it but to no avail.

If you are running an ISA box but only for externally make sure you untick normalisation validation.
