Issue importing CTF
I don't have a lot to do with SIMS, the office ladies manage it on their own quite well so bear with me whilst i try to explain the problem.
New child started. Collegue downloads CTF and imports it to find that the child has been cloned (she isnt sure what happened there). She deletes the clone.
Re-downloaded but wont import as UPN already exists.
Asks previous school to re-upload CTF to portal and tries again. Still wont import as UPN already exists.
She cant really delete child completely as they now have attendance data attached to them.
Is there a way to get it to import without having to do it all manually. Can we export the existing data maybe, the put it on after the CTF from previous school? (does it work like that?). Why doesn't SIMS compare the two files and merge if the UPN match?

18th October 2011, 03:39 PM #2 Can you see the 'cloned' pupil? If so try changing the UPN a few times to something different. SIMS keeps the UPN and Former UPN. You need to clear the real UPN from the Former field.

The other way of matching the information up in the CTF to what you've got is to open it (either in IE or notepad) and just confirm what is in the Firstname, Surname and Date of Birth fields (I think those are what it matches on)

Things like this happen a lot between schools. Children change their DoB, Name, spelling... you name it. Whoever is importing the CTF needs to understand the basics of databases, she/he might know the child is the same one but the database doesn't. We get quite a few problems relating to this procedure. This is getting increasingly difficult to resolve, especially if the school uses Dinner Money.
