12th October 2011, 03:07 PM #1 Dollar Sign $ in Exams Organiser
When we run a fees report on exam entries within SIMS Exams Organiser, they come back with a $ not a £ sign. SupportNet doesn't have anything on this, however there is an old post in the forum saying it is because of the language settings of the PC image; sadly no solution though. Having looked at our install images, they are in EN-US, however I have manually changed all regional locales on the PC to UK, yet the dollar sign remains. Has anyone else found this and managed to fix it?

13th October 2011, 08:31 AM #2 Not seen it but do sometimes get issues with us date format, got some things to try:
Change it to something else, then back to UK, and i would just remove the us settings as the date format causes issues in many reports.
Do the same on the server too.
It might also be wise to reboot, if you can to make sure it sticks.
Also, you have to open SIMS after doing the change, if you do it while it's open, it doesn't always pick it up.

27th March 2012, 10:54 AM #5 Can you try changing your regional settings to something else, then back again and try running SIMS Exams again (will need to ensure you close and report the whole of SIMS on the machine).

No, we decided to lump it. At some point, I will manually install Windows onto the Exams Officer's computer, selecting UK locale, and see if that resolves it. It could be that you can force regional settings via Group Policy too, I didn't spend too long looking into it.

26th September 2012, 10:52 AM #9 .... that worked!
I don't know who to blame... Microsoft or Capita.
However I did make my own application with VB and used the function FormatCurrency() which displays the locally set currency.... it was pounds sterling. SIMS is obviously getting its information from somewhere else. Or perhaps just making it up!

26th September 2012, 11:11 AM #11 It's Microsoft - something to do with the OEM build process - not 100% sure, don't get my hands dirty any more

1st October 2012, 10:50 AM #12 It's a pain, we usually used to find this during SIMS workstation installation, we added a step to change the location to USA then back to UK for all our imaged workstations when built.

How did you do this?
Sometimes the hurdles required to get things working properly are totally mad! Its difficult to know who to blame here, are MS messing up the OEM build as mentioned above, or are capita using a legacy method of resolving the current location? I know that programs I have created can resolve it correctly after an OEM build :S
