Yep its a known problem, check my forum thread below:
Office 2010 compatibility?
I think that hotfix fixed it though. Still waiting for feedback from our report lady but I think it worked.
We are having an issue with Report Templates and Office 2010. When we run them on a PC with Office 2010 the tags do not come across on the report. Is this a known 2010 problem?
I need to try that hotfix, but i have also seen that for tags alone, the solution is often to do this with template:
open, change, verify, save (in word), exit, save (in sims), open, verify, save (in word), exit, save (in sims).
this double verify save, seemed to do the trick.
The reports Lady tells me the fix worked for her with Office 2010.
Cool, must try that. What made you run that?
It was buried in Capita Support for a different Office 2010 error message but does the trick!
I found today that the following seems to work - not sure why yet:
Clone a report, edit the template, save it in Word and close, then save in SIMS. Open the template again, click somewhere random on the template (not making any changes) then close Word and save in SIMS. Running the report should then work.
I've found that running the report straight after editting the template doesn't work, the fields don't pull through, however opening the template once and then running it does work.
Any changes to templates (which were created in Office 2003 at least) seem to require this process.
@stephen64 - it's good that process works for you, i couldn't replicate that. I tried for ages before the summer. What many have found is to do just as you are, but also add in the verify process. (maybe you are doing that anyway.) . This double verify, definitely fixes the issues with tags coming through.
With other issues, this microsoft hotfix seems to have fixed them all, i've yet to test if it also prevents this tag issue, i'm hoping it does:
Microsoft KB 2553912
If anybody still has issues with Tags not pulling the data through and you have tried all the above then you may like to check out a post of mine on SupportNet in thread:- Individual Reports - blank rows (33514)
