[SIMS] AHHH....no new year 7 timetables in Sims!

Evening chaps -

Owing to long term staff absence the management of Sims over the last few months has been a little haphazard! I'll be removing permissions next week off some staff to reign in some of this. My issue is that the new year 7 cohert haven't been properly applied.

I'll try to describe what has been done (apologies for the vague-ness of this - I'm not sure what has been done and what hasn't!)

Academic year is promoted
Yr7 have been accepted and applied
Academic year is correct
Base bands are correct and populated
Sims is working fine - it's not a glitch but something we've not done I'm sure!

All timetables exist of all years except yr7. Just blank. (Reports - Print Timetables - Date set - Yr7 set....Blank!!

If I look at a teacher's TT it's correct but open one of their yr7 classes and it's empty - no pupils.

What have we forgotten to do?

Capita dialed in and were a little confused too - they've put it on to 2nd line support but this will be tomorrow at some point....Yr7 start at 8.20am tomorrow!!


Anyone got any ideas?

Have all students been assigned to the correct sets in Academic Management?

You need to go to Focus| School | Academic Structure|Whole curriculum Assignment

I "THINK" so Kiran but I'll have a check in the morning, many thanks! Is that just an "apply" type thing or a process of stages to assign? Thanks again

You basically have to tick which group the student(s) need to belong to - e.g. 7xHi1 7xGg3, etc.

When you say "accepted and applied" have they actually been admitted. Also have you set the date you are looking at beyond their admission date? I.e. If they are admitted on the 5th (because that's when they cOme) have you set the date to the 5th?

Stuart - Thanks for the reply. I believe they have, yes. Date is a good question - Term started today and lessons begin tomorrow. Worth checking that in the morning that the timetable should have started today but may have been set for tomorrow? I did select tomorrow as the start date but may be as you've suggested?

It's OK. Term for us started Thursday with two INSET days. The Date of admission for the new pupils is (correctly) set to the 5th which is when they come here and they have all been admitted.

It does mean that some reports don't display all the pupils as the new one's haven't arrived. Most of the screens (reporting and so on) have a date box that you can change to look at the school on any given date. Changing this to Monday (for us) makes all the new pupils appear. It happens every year, and every year I get the same questions/complaints and every year I say the same thing.

Hi VP - Sorry for the delay...you know what the beginning of term is like!?

I did get the TT's printed - in time too. There's still loads of issues though, just trying to work my way through them now!

Also,
Make sure that you have Updated Course Memberships in Academic Management so that the Y7 pupils show in the Class/Reg Groups Registers!
