Could write a script that launched sims when there been an update and so it pick up the update with out having to elevate the privileges of the user?
There are possible approaches.
A startup script or a service. Both would require network access to the S:\SIMS\Setups folder for version checking and downloading the installers.
Both would need some way of preventing the user from trying to run SIMS before the update process was complete. May be this could be done by initial deleting the relevant shortcut icons and then only putting them back when finished. You'd also need to signal to the user that this was normal behaviour or you going to get dozens of support calls.
