Hi all
I have just upgraded Facility
When logged on to the server it works fine
Other office users who have a shared shortcut to facility on their pcs does not work.
I dont know what files to copy to their machines form the server that will allow them to connect to the upgraded software

Thanks John

Which version are you upgrading to? In Derbyshire, the Facility team usually send out instructions with each upgrade, which involve updating it on the server and then checking the upgrade on a client PC. I'm not at work at the moment, so can't check the filenames etc. involved, but could it be a question of access rights to the files? Where does the shared shirtcut point to?

I found instructions on the SERCO site but I amm a bit confused.
Seemingly you need to create a new ODBC and a DSN files to make the connection
Has anyone done this that can help me
Thanks John

John,
If you have just upgraded, you certainly shouldn't need to create new ODB and DSN, that could cause you big problems.
As you would have needed to re-name your facility folder to facilityold and create a new folder called facility, it sounds to me like the folder is not shared or the permissions are wrong. This has thew me a couple of times in the past. It should just be a case of sharing with the same name as the shortcut points to and granting the correct permissions.
If you can't sort it quickly, I would just call Serco, raise it as a crictical issue and they will sort it for you straight away. If you have remote support, any agent should easily be able to remote in and tell you what is wrong.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for that
The clients shortcut does not work.
It seems that I need to reconfigure some client files eg
What are client files?
Facility is not installed on standalone machines, instead the main application is installed on a server and each client has a set of local files that are required in order to use the Facility.
The client files that are required on each client machine, or in each roaming profile, are:
A dsn file
A cdb file
A shortcut to the Facility application on the server
A shortcut to the ePortal web address
A local user configuration file – the cmis.ini file
A Facility configuration file - the admin.ini or cmisadmin.ini file
During the installation process these files should have been created on the server and placed in a folder called ‘client files’. This folder can be copied and placed onto each client machine in the appropriate location.
Or they can be created on a client machine and copied to each of the other clients that require access to Facility.
It is important that users have full read/write access to this folder.
THINK...... I WILL JUST DO A CALL TO SERCO

23rd June 2011, 09:55 PM #7 I'd echo what ronnoco said and have a look at the folder on the server where facility is installed. (Ours is called "admin" not "facility" for some reason, so you could try looking under both names). Then check the sharing of that folder and make sure the right users have access. Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Pathway for shortcuts were wrong. Once they were pointed in the correct direction it all worked
