    Learning Gateway Marksheet Script Problems

We have had a call outstanding with Capita support since January and need to desperately fix a problem with the Marksheet web parts. Basically comment fields (which are essential for our online reporting) cause the marksheet web parts to run very slowly. We get the warning in both Firefox and IE8 that scripts are causing the browser to run slowly and performance is very sluggish.

Has anyone come accross this problem and been able to fix it? A fix is in the pipeline according to Capita but we it's proving a bit of an impediment to using Learning Gateway so I'm keen to sort it ASAP.

Originally I thought it to be due to large marksheets (think all subjects for all members of a year group) but even with less then 20 students on a page the issue arises.

I think i recall you mentioned this elsewhere. Am i right in thinking you have multiple comment fields on one marksheet?
If so, a workaround would be to clone your marksheets, and only have 1 per sheet. Or experiment with how many works.
I can imagine, even the empty placeholder for a 1000 character cell, will take up some space and make it sluggish if you have loads of columns (probably holds no weight technically; just a laymen's view.)

The one per sheet works well but then we run into a people problem, the heads of year and form tutors want to have all the comments there and editable. I mentioned it on SupportNet too but got no response.

I'm grabbing the new Firefox to see if Jaegermonkey will make a difference.

All there in one sheet you mean?
    Hmm...
Is this AM or Profiles out of interest, not that it makes a difference, unless the profiles routines have the reviewer role and all that jazz...

We still use AM. Profiles we looked at but it didn't meet our needs in the end so this is the sheet you get when you assign it to the Head of Year. What I have noticed is the marksheet now has pages which has helped cut load times so looks like the wheels are turning at Capita HQ.

I ran a test with IE8 versus FF4, a league apart and it shows.

IE8: Approx 3 and a half minutes to load the page and open a comment for editing. Script warnings.
FF4: Approx 1 minute to load the page and open a comment for editing. No script warnings.

Not ideal but quite a gap between the two!

We had this and the workaround I used was to display 10 students per page and not the full class of 30+ - a word of warning though if you set the webpart to show 10 per page and the member of staff manually changes it, it still only remembers the first 10 entries when clicking save.
