I just booked my place on one of the UAT Sessions for System Manager 7.
It's due for release with the SIMS Summer Upgrade!
Not that I am guaranteed a place of course. Though I have been wrestling with Sysman6 for many, many years!

I paid for a course on system manager at capita and it was an utter waste of money, just teaching me how to do things that should be easy but because system manager was so far behind in terms of development it was very hard.
Here's hoping they actually simplify the user roles and permissions.
Make it easy to attach active directory accounts to sims users
And let you press a letter on the keyboard to jump to a user
I would be happy with that after waiting 6 years for an update to System Manager.
We are all frustrated with Sysman6. I attended a meeting a good many years ago when the possibility of an upgrade was discussed. Unfortunately it led to nothng at that time. I think that Capita wanted to upgrade EO6 first, but that has proved impossible because of the immense number of changes that keep happening re. exams nationally!
Unfortunately (though I know nothing about the new system at the moment) I don't think it can be anything else but complicated, bearing in mind the number of fields of data that it has to handle and the varied and different ways that all the SIMS schools will wish to use it. I just need it to be a bit more logical!
What's new in System Manager 7 then?
Hopefully I will get a place on the UAT to find out.
It will be a total rebuild from the current v6 to real .net v7.
Oh so there's no roadmap for it then?
It's on the SIMS roadmap but the functionality is never published on there!
Summers about June time... just be my luck they'll release it and I'll be supporting some other out-of-date product. Sigh.
Booked/requested a place on the first session also, good to see real progress on this at last, if I remember correctly this was supposed to be in field trials last summer but never made it
I attended a consultation meeting re. this a good many years ago in Birmingham! Obviously we were asking for too much at that time.![]()
I've also applied for the first session. How many people are normally invited to attend?

Isn't an actual release date for System Manager 7 one of the signs of the apocalypse?
*wants consistent UI, alphabetical jumping to list items in all menus/fields and stable/usable log review*
*also wants a pony as payment for not disemboweling any developers regarding system manager 6*
Something that actually is easy and quick to use would be start, like a bulk option. I hear the backup stuff is going into SOLUS3. I've booked on for the one in April, so fingers cross will see some of you there.
@vikpaw - Jobs at risk. So am looking around. Fingers cross I'll be ok, but I can't take the risk.

Sorry to hear that buddy.
Come out here, we could use your skills in the region.
British international School of riyadh really needs someone. - in educational jobs.+ TES
Haileybury (spelling ?) - a very prestigious school opening up a sister school in Kazakhstan - in TES.
Also there have been some good posts elsewhere - SupportNet: SIMS Manager in oxted, Surrey, and SIMS / technical sales consultant, national. Even one for Capita recently.
I'm sure you know about these, but just in case.
Also, Will Townsend, i forget his EG name, from www.esp-recruit.co.uk is the top man to give your CV to, if you haven't already.
Good Luck.
