2nd February 2011, 02:42 PM #1 Duplicate Classes- User Defined Groups
Hi all
(also posting this on edugeek)
one that is bugging me (and has been logged with my LA support team) but I was wondering if anyone can provide me with any answers here.
When searching for a class when intending to add them to a User Defined Group, I get the following:

What would be the cause?
Cheers
Richard

2nd February 2011, 02:48 PM #3 Is it scheduled 4 times per week.
Or two times with two different teachers.
etc.
not a good reason, but could be the cause.

2nd February 2011, 02:52 PM #4 I cannot see the Image, but we have this with a few classes since we did a major timetable rewrite, if you change the effective dates of a search it usually solved the issue. (f that is what I think it could be, jumping in blind)

Interesting one is that. It seems to be an issue just with Linear Groups. Banded sets seem to work perfectly!
Correction! Option Blocks and some banded sets have the problem also! Verrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy curious ......................
Update! It is delivering Classes from Previous Years
Somebody needs to register a SupportNet Case re this one!
This will make you smile! Maybe!
I just noticed the Tick Box in each UDG to 'Include in Discover'. Nice one!!!

2nd February 2011, 03:14 PM #7 Can you replicate the problem too Mike? I had a dig into Nova (I am on day 1 of a 3 day nova course) and didn't seem to see an issue.
@LosOjos - yes, looked at course manager and all perfect in there
The problem is with Technology, here are the blocks for both bands if it helps:

Thanks all for your replies!

2nd February 2011, 03:18 PM #8 Hmmmm, this is could be 3 things (that I can think of) there are several classes with the same Descriptive name (very unlikely) or you have had several version of the Model pushed through (with CR in different places) and that is causing multiple classes to appear. The last (which is also a posiblity) is that they are old historical classes. As 2 of them have a slighlty different name 9aC and 9AC

2nd February 2011, 03:21 PM #9 Defo the latter as I have classes in some of my searches which include a subject we have not used for a couple of years! (See above!)

2nd February 2011, 03:26 PM #11 Can I just ask what you are using the User Defined Group For?

2nd February 2011, 03:29 PM #12 Thanks all for replies.
@BKGarry -it's SUCH a weird one! We are just (!!) rolling out AM7 here in the school and the tech department always mark the childs work once they have left the class. Once they have left the class - for registration purposes, their teacher is changed (so they can't access the marksheet!). I know there may be some other ways of doing it, but I decided to create a UDG and assign it that way. I know its a faf!
@Sivadam + @BKGarry - I thought it may be that previous classes not active but not sure the way to approach it! It wouldn't suprise me here as I am finding lots of things still active on the system that shouldn't be.
@Sivadam - thanks for having a look at this for me. Hopefully my support desk will come up trumps!
Thanks all

2nd February 2011, 03:34 PM #15 For the teacher to see their previous classes, all they need to do is change the effective date and hit search and it will appear, much easier than creating User Defined Groups
