    Does the report run if you select a single reg group? (i.e the report does run on a smaller set).

    Does it work if you sling
    Code:
    CommandTimeout=100000
    into your connect.ini ?

    If the report takes ages to run and ties up someones machine then it may be appropriate to use the Report Scheduler in SIMS.

    First look at the attached PDF and also look under SIMS Help at "reports, scheuling".

    Setting_up_the_Report_Scheduler_11982.pdf

    Having looked at those schedule the Appropriate report from SIMS .net under "Focus | Alerts | Schedule Reports" and target the right user.

    the commandtimeout parameter works for a number of issues like this, but is it a long term solution..? it was always used as a last resort with the caveat that it should be removed later, but it seems that people are needing it more and more. i'm thinking something has changed in recent updates or since the switch to sql 2008, because these issues are cropping up again. it can't simply be that we are running more and more complex queries can it?
    will we end up with commandtimeout=10000000 in the future...? Are we happy to continue waiting for longer and longer for the system to produce the data...?
    just something i was pondering and thought i'd throw it out there..
