    SIMS over VPN

    Hi,

    Do you need to make changes to the connect.ini file for Sims to work over a VPN connection?

    Our connect.ini in school looks like this and is held on the sims share (T:\)

    Code:
    [SIMSConnection]
    ServerName=sims-01\SIMS2005f
    DatabaseName=sims
    CommandTimeout=100000

    It works ok at the school, but over the VPN I get the "login error: reason 0" problem, which I have read can be down to a dodgy connect.ini. Since it works in house, I'm wonerding if we need to change it? I have tried swapping "sims-01" for the ip address, and adding a line at the top "server=ipaddress". Didn't work

    Any thoughts?

    Have you mapped your SIMS drives on the VPN client?

    Nope, our connect.ini looks like that and works on VPN with a mapped SIMS drive.

    Any reason it's sims2005f?

    Is the firewall open for * not just the subnet?

    Possibly DNS?
    Try
    Code:
    nslookup sims-01
    and see what comes back.
    Yeah my guess would be DNS
