When running SOLUS following the SQL2008 upgrade, I see this in event viewer. Any ideas? I assume this is an old user account that is no longer used but how do I stop this error from SOLUS?
Login failed for user 'simsinit'. Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

26th August 2010, 05:01 PM #2 This is not the SIMS client, it's SOLUS 2. If you use that then I'd appreciate you looking.
I've only noticed this since the SQL2005 to 2008 conversion. That said, I don't normally check the event log at the same time as running SOLUS so it could have existed before.

26th August 2010, 05:07 PM #3 No worries! As you say they do seem to be logins no longer used by anything but I'm not sure why SOLUS is using them as you have to login on the first SOLUS screen to download updates. Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this.
Edit:
In the meantime, if you're confident with SQL Profiler I bet you can catch the routine that attempts to login with this name. I bet it's some dog-end code in a routine.
I'm not, but, I guess I could become familiar with it?

26th August 2010, 10:36 PM #4 This is ringing bells with me but I can't quite put my finger on where/when I've seen it before.
I'll search through my emails tomorrow as well as checking on a couple of school servers (my supported primary schools are scheduled to run SOLUS 2 every day).

31st August 2010, 07:24 PM #11 Few KBs detailing it, some refer to SQL binn, and post SQL2008, however SOLUS exists in SIMS Apps, one refers to this, recommends reinstalling SIMS Apps, failing that deattach - reattach (See KB35814).

31st August 2010, 10:19 PM #12 I've raised it with the LA as they did the migration. Given that everything still seems to be working, I guess I could ignore this?

15th March 2013, 10:14 AM #13 Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am having the same issue. Since moving from a physical server to a virtual. I dont have access to the old physical to see if this simsinit login issue happened on there too. We stop the SIMS SQL Service at night to take a copy of the mdf and ldf then restart the service.
Occasionally after the restart of the service the sims server refuses sims logins with reason 0 and then I have to reboot the server. The only oddity I can see in the event logs is this simsinit login failure during the solus job which runs every morning at 6am. We never had this problem with the physical server.
@Edu-IT - did you ever get to the bottom of this?

15th March 2013, 11:39 AM #14 I didn't, I think the general advice was to just ignore it. However obviously you can't because it stops you logging in.

Not sure if the 2 are related but it was the only thing I found in Event Viewer.
