12th August 2010, 12:18 PM #1 Exam Results Seasons
Can anyone else that knows how take a look in Exams and check that their summer 2010 season is NOT available when you go to "Reports > Results > Candidate Statement of Results" & then look in the Selection box. Ours is currently defaulting to the previous season as the current one is not there. Else where Summer 2010 does appear fine so my hypothesis is that in an update it has been changed to hide any seasons with no results in.

12th August 2010, 12:33 PM #2 Is the season listed as "Open" in Route: Tools, School Setup, Seasons? Wondering if its been locked accidentally and needs to be unlocked?

12th August 2010, 02:41 PM #3 Yep that is fine. I think it is a new 'Feature' as our Exams lady said before it would default to the currently selected season and then give a blank result if there were no results. Now it currently defaults to March, the last season with results in. We also tested another season that had no results and that went to March also. I'd just like confirmation though that another site or more show this behaviour before I panic up to exams day.

12th August 2010, 03:40 PM #4 Our selection is "November 2009" as that was the last round of exams we did in school.

13th August 2010, 08:19 AM #7 Nothing has changed re. the behaviour of EO to my knowledge!
It still opens up in the default season even if that season is locked.
Our default season is set to 'June (Summer) Exams 2010' and this is the season it opens up in, even though this season is (obviously) locked. It can only be unlocked for editing by either the Exams Officer or myself!
If it is opening in a different season for other schools then this will probably mean that the default has not been changed to the new season! There is a default Tick box in the 'Season Details' which needs ticking for whichever season you wish to be the default!

17th August 2010, 01:05 PM #8 No response to my previous post so I thought I would just post the following to confirm that the results statements does default to the default season (June 2010 in our case!)

17th August 2010, 01:51 PM #9 Sorry I missed your post.
It's not to do with locking. Do you have any results in that season at all? On ours what appears to happen is that when there are no results in the default season, it reverts to the previous season with results in. This was confirmed by RH91uk. So if you have an exam season all ready set up for after the summer, winter, or November, try setting that as default and look at the screen you took a shot of. If my theory is correct then it will not show the future one but will show the June one you have there.

There are results in our June 2010 Season - mainly Proxy Basedata and Non-EDI ones though at this stage!
We have not got a future season set up. So all seasons have results in them. I cannot confirm that this is a change as I have not been Exams Officer for a good number of years now (though I am still first reserve!). When I was the main man I can never remember wanting to print Statements of Results when no results exist. (Why would one?) So as far as I am concerned it could always have been like that.
So if users have confirmed that the behaviour is changed then maybe it has!

17th August 2010, 02:20 PM #11 I haven't said I want to print a blank statement of results but the Exam Officer does panic slightly when she goes to check that everything she will do on the big day works and finds she can't select the current season and it isn't even in the list as an option. If this was a bug that would prevent statements being printed on exams day I think you can see this is something I would want to be pro-actively being checking and trying to fix. That was my reasoning for posting on here and it was sound as RH91UK checked, got the same result and I could assure my EO that this was happening else where so it wasn't likely to be a problem on the day.

17th August 2010, 09:50 PM #12 Fair comment TechMonkey! I wasn't rying to be facetious when alluding to me never trying to print a blank document - just explaining that, as far as I can remember, I had never attempted to do so.
There are quite a number of Exams Officers active on SupportNet Forums at the moment. Maybe there would be more answers if this query was posted there as well.
