Is there any kind of "log" to track changes or events in System Manager? A school is saying that a logins are being created "automaticly" and they want to know why.

Not sure what you mean by logins. You mean an account for logging into SIMS is created? or, spurious cases of logins to SIMS are occuring?
Not really a way to log changes in system manager as far as i am aware, short of exporting the list of users, and comparing it at a later date.
but it can be used to look at events in sims, though i only know of one person that has done this, see bossman's post in this thread:
Urgent SIMS advice needed - Poss gross misconduct
i got something back once, but normally it crashes my machine.
When a new person is added to SIMS personnel, they become available in System Manager, but a login wouldn't be created, until you add that person ( a known person) to the system. Then they get the default password.
Not sure if that helps.

Thanks. Yes, I do mean an SIMS account. The school are saying that new teachers starting in September are being added to Personnel, but it seems that a SIMS account in System Manager is being created almost instantly after. They only create a SIMS user account in system manager for new teachers on the teachers first day in September, but SIMS logins & passwords are already listed in System Manager.
They assure me that every staff member involved says they are not creating the SIMS account in system manager and the school's Tech thinks the only way is if these accounts are being created automaticly. I was hoping a audit trail would exist so I could see who is creating these logins...

New staff in Personnel will not automatically be users in SIMS. They have to be created in System Manager.

I thought as much, but there seems to be no easy way to find out who has been setting these people up in System Manager...

New staff in personal don't get SIMS logon automatically.
SIMS System Manager structure is very complicated and temperamental, there is no easy way to setup right permissions nor you can trace any log. There should be audit option where you can trace SM changes.

How many people have & need access to SM? Surely not many, that would narrow it down.

I don't suppose you've got SLG and there IS some automated process that takes place? I doubt it though.
In sysman, what permissions have they been given. If they are all the same it could point to automation, it's a bit of an effort i find to do, so i doubt someone is doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, however, having said that, a keen timetabler who has some legacy extra rights could do it, just to get the people ready and on the system.
One thing you can look for is the date permissions, if any, are applied from. Look at the group membership and user permissions tabs to see the start dates.
Do they use the default SIMS username format or change it? We change it, so i'd know if something automatically created an account.
