Intermittant error when user logs into SIMS

A few users have been getting the following error when they try to log in..

Our LEA (as usual) are no help at all with this..

SupportNet wont let me log in to find out what the error code is..

Anyone here got any ideas??

Can't find the exact error on support net, but similar errors recommend:

Re-install sims on workstation (i just delete the sims folder and re-run setup)

Reboot workstation and or server

Re-create user via system manager

Otherwise it looks like something more specific to your data.

We have a similar error here. When affected users use another workstation, there is no error. When unaffected users use the affected user's workstation, there is no error.

We are testing a fix based on a hunch...

We saw similar patterns after a recent SIMS upgrade. We solved it by changing an entry in C:\WINDOWS\Sims.ini

Change it from:

[Setup]
SIMSSetupsDirectory=\\SIMSServerName\simsroot$\sim s\Setups

To:

[Setup]
SIMSSetupsDirectory=S:\sims\Setups

(Where S:\ is your SIMS drive: Change as appropriate)

The rest of the file is unchanged.

I've recently recieved errors like this on some stations after an upgrade. Running SIMSApplicationSetup from the setups folder accepting all defaults seemed to fix this.

On further investigation this station hadn't been setup correctly. There was no s:\sims in the environment variables.

Thanks guy's I'll check the .ini files tomorrow and try (yet another) re-install.
