SHOCK: Serco catches up with rest of world
Just got the email round from Serco about 10.1 (coming 26th April, just after a school holiday when I'd like to install it
) and there's some pleasing news in there:

About flipping time! Always been an annoyance that security is lessened by our need to stick with 7 to be on the safe side...
EDIT: ...why did I spell shock as schock? Too much time speaking German, scheiße!

I'm sure they do - I've seen something somewhere, I just can't find it now to quote it
EDIT: just found it @ http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/K...uestionID=1866 (will need to log into Firstline)
Version 09.2 of ePortal will not support Internet Explorer 8.
The following web browsers will be supported by version 09.2:
Internet Explorer
– versions 6 and 7
Firefox
– versions 2 and 3

17th February 2010, 09:36 PM #5 and as you will also have seen in the Feb newsletter they are appealing for BETA testers, so for all of you Serco users who, like me, have a good old rant and rave about the existing testers that "cannot test it to save lives etc" please do think about contacting Serco for the opportunity. In a way its like partaking in the forum, if the knothole isn't shared it won't get fixed / improved so the more of us who rant about common issues on the Beta panel and flag it up as an issue I would hope that it may make a difference. I suspect it will from talking to Serco staff in the past. As for the release date I have already emailed them about that as it is once again in term time by just missing a holiday.....

Following on from John's post - the email address to apply for beta testing is betatesters@sercofirstline.com.
Also, Michael - firefox 3.5+ is supported - I will get the hardware spec updated accordingly.

Nearly drove me to madness!

Not a clue what you're talking about. I've not been off. Sure you got the right person?

Another advantage of being a beta tester is that you will get the release early, so if you would like to sign up you'll be able to get the upgrade done over the Easter break...

22nd February 2010, 12:01 PM #13 I might ask around and see if any Birmingham schools are interested. But going from comments I've heard regarding previous versions there is a serious lack of faith in the product and many are reluctant to even install the official releases.
