For anyone interested...
Don't miss our first webcast exclusively for secondary schools - 10th February 2010 at 13.30pm
Brand new for 2010, don't miss the first of our SIMS webcasts exclusively for secondary schools featuring:
SIMS Learning Gateway - Liberating staff through flexible working and online reporting to parents with Paul Metcalfe.
This live webcast will also give you the opportunity to have your SIMS Learning Gateway questions answered in an interactive Q&A session.
Register today for this un-missable session.
DAMN, that's half hour after i finish work for the week!
Can someone tape it.
Not bad at all ... !
Maybe it'll pursuade some of you 'doubters' to now go and check out a live system!![]()
I got a confirmation e-mail last night, but it said my e-mail wasn't registered when I tried to join this afternoon.
Did I miss much?
I managed to catch most of it, would be great if they made it available for download to watch again!
Some of the 'live' demos they shown were quite impressive design wise. Other than that, SLG is SLG. At its core it does the same no matter how pretty you make it look.
The Q & A was to short
They never got round to answering all the questions or decided to ignore ours anyway
Would be interested on watching a recorded version if one comes up.
@PhilNeal - Will a recording of this be available as requested by another poster above?
I would certainly appreciate it myself too.
For those who missed it but already seen SLG in action, you didnt miss anything. I might go as far as saying all you need to do is try the live demo Capita has for SLG and you pretty much cover what was on the webcast. (dont know if you can still get a live demo, use to be on the capita website and you just register)
We're currently evaluating both Serco and SIMS. The web portal is very key to us so if we go SIMS we'd be using SLG from day one.
Because of this I've logged into the demo and had a nose around. I must say that based on the demo it is the weak link in the SIMS armour. I have been hoping that their is perhaps a whole lot more to SLG than the demo suggests/shows because beyond that there is quiet a bit to like about SIMS.
You may want to have a look at TeachersWebFolder by bromcom and Insight by TASC Software.
Oh the one thing I thought was misleading in the Webcast was when Paul Metcalfe mentioned using SLG for doing registration.. Correct me if im wrong but im sure he implied that you could use SLG to do registration on mobile devices, which technically I think you can but (again correct me if im wrong) its not practical because SLG wasnt designed for mobile devices. By mobile devices I mean handheld devices, laptops will work fine with SLG.
No thank you re. Bromcom!
And yes you can mark registers using a mobile device using SLG.
We also had one member of staff complete her AM7 Assessments on her Blackberry on the way to school one morning on the bus! And that is from a person who is normally late with everything and HATES using a computer!
