Called me old fashioned or what why is that almost all people and media refer to children as Kids !! - it drives me mad - grrrrrr............... presumably then the DCSF will soon be renamed DKSF - or is it just me ?
BTW Seasons Greetings to you all

Can you explain why it bothers you so much?![]()
It is yet another dillution of standards, tradition, etc - its the association I suppose with the slang , casualness of the word - but then I am of that age I suppose (50+)
You sound like my missus Anorak.
To quote Chris on SupportNet (Christmas lights thread):
According to the DCSF (Dept of Christmas, Sleighs and Fairies), claus S, there must be 2 orange lights for Elf and Safety reasons.

Carpet Monkeys, I call mine.
Well.. its been DFE, DFEE, DFES and now DCSF in about ten short years.. don't see why they couldn't rebrand again![]()

Undertaking a quick bit of research, Kid is not a new phenomenon. Think about Billy the Kid, Charlie Chaplin's film The Kid.
It seem that it may have originated in the late 1500s and may be a derivative of the Germanic 'Kind'.
Possibly the word Kid was used for a young goat after the name for a human child.
So I will feel no shame for calling my site (which needs a complete revamp over the holiday with updates during my trip in February) www.KidsAfrica.co.uk .
By the way I'm 53, Anorak (not that I look it ;-) )
