Hi
I have just been asked by the Network Manager to find out if there is an ID Card printing solution that works with SIMS - if this is possible at all?
How do you print your ID cards for students?
Any help is muchly appreciated![]()

You can do the job with a Magicard Enduro, you need to have the intermediate software from magicard too.
It's not too difficult but it's not going to link in, you'd need to export from sims and import into the software.

We use IdPro as supplied with our EasyTrace Cashless Catering System.

We use MagicCardthe software that comes with the printers isn't fantastic but it does the job.. even better if you create your own background using a design package and upload it as the background. hehe
Not too expensive either!
James.
Thanks for the replies allI will pass them onto my manager and see where he wants to go from here.

Just set up a report in SIMS, output to a Word document. If "ID card" just means a bit of cardboard with someone's name on it, then just buy perforated cardboard sheets that you can print out on and split up in to ID cards to go in badge holders or whatever afterwards, print on a standard printer straight from Word.

We have a Zebra card printer with CardExchange software. We use a copy of the SQL database and pull the data directly from the copy. This is so that we do not invalidate our warranty. Something that has been discussed on here before.
This allows me to print an individual ID badge onto a Mifare intelligent card, all data is taken direct from SIMS including photo. only people with a photo are show in the ID software.
The cards integrate with our follow-me-print solution, door access and cashless catering.
Please correct me if I am wrong here...
I'd definately like to be wrong.
Sadly this is a little more difficult, SIMS Reports can do the job but it would have to come out as one ID card per page as the SIMS Report to a mailmerge document will not support photographs.
The normal RTF or Word based reports from SIMS can pull out the data but it can't fit it into "label like" sections on a single page.
If I'm wrong here please share your SIMS RptDef![]()

Check out Dan Clark's Exam Photo Label Report on SupportNet, User Posts, File Sharing. It has been there a very long time now so finding it may be an issue.
However, it is well worth the effort. Once you have downloaded the Template you can then edit the fields it contains to get what you want. You can re-size the Photos to the size you want, edit the Text Fields on the label and you can also change the number of Photos etc per page by using different Avery type Labels.
Update:-
Found it - it is Post 137.
