Can anyone remind me about any problems or pitfalls of using DBATTACH? I seem to remember something about passwords being dropped or needing to be reset. Problem is I can't remember definitvely so if it was a bug that has been fixed or a feature that needs handling.
Long story short, been given a fix that is to just detach and re-attach the DB but of course I don't just want to do this if one evening if I am goin gto have to sort passwords or get staff to re-enter their passwords teh next day.
Also the instructions given have a large warning saying "Do not try to re-attach a database back until the database has been removed from the data folder" Does re-attaching copy the data then? If I am just wanting to detach & re-attach can I ignore this?

You should be fine as long as you do not choose to drop logins. You donít actually have to move the MDF and LDF out of the data folder but that warning is there because if you accidently pick the wrong MDF you can end up overwriting your database by accident.
Detaching and re-attaching is a common solution. Usually the one you do after 'turning it off and on again'.
