MIS Systems Thread, SIMS: Slow to log in in Technical; Hello, hope you are all well.

We have recently upgraded our Sims server to shiny new hardware. Despite the Sims server having twice the resources available to it the login times to Sims from our client PCs still seem very slow. It seems that after you type your Sims user name and password and click 'ok' there is up to a minute wait to get to the Sims front page.
I wondered what the most likely cause of this slowness would be and would appreciate any suggestions to improve this.
Thanks in advance

Most common cause of this I'm finding is iffy DNS entries, or missing the domain suffix information in your network adapter settings, making the workstations work a bit too hard for their network information. Especially noticeable with heavy apps like Sims. Worth a look.

Test this out by trying to access SIMS by only using pulsar.
The problems we normally find are linked to the speed of the network and the load placed by Simsload.exe, and the way that most AV's will scan each of the upgrade files in the setups folder
Thank you all very much. This information has given me a much better understanding of what goes on when Sims starts and things to look into.
Over the summer as well as upgrading the Sims server we have moved to Forefront anti-virus so I wonder if this is causing the slowness. I will try to narrow the problem down to either the pulsar.exe or the SimsLoad.exe and will let you know how I get on.
