Identifying Duplicate Contacts Across Siblings in CMIS / ePortal

If you are planning to roll out parental access to eportal then it is a very good idea to get on top of your student contacts by identifying and removing any duplicates which would result in multiple logons for contacts for each associated child. This Blog entry in 'Working with ePortal' gives one method of identifying duplicate student contacts. Student Contact Details Working with ePortal

    Good bit of advice.

We use SIMS here and will be looking at doing something similar in the next few weeks.

There was a report written that I was passed that pulled out any contacts that were thought to be the same but had different ID numbers. I'll see if I can track it down and let you know it.

I wrote a report to do this when we were trialing parental access in Birmingham, I've attached it to this thread in case it might be of interest to you. Usual caveats apply when talking about these sorts of details, you need to ensure you have your sibling links updated correctly, but the attached report will show all student contacts that can't be matched to that student's siblings' contacts. The code, as you might imagine, is a little complex, but it seems to run pretty smoothly.
