Job Description

We are looking at the possibility of employing someone to be the point man for CMIS in our school. Basically with the amount of work that I and my technicians do on the PC/Network/AV/Moodle side we have very limited time to make CMIS into the system that our Senior Leadership Team want it to be.

Does anyone have a job description for something like this.

Basically I am thinking something along the lines of....

Database Administrator and Application Specialist for Serco CMIS.

The candidate will either need to know or be willing to learn.

Knowledge of school requirements and the ability to translate them into a CMIS Solution.
Ability to create reports in CMIS
Support user queries and liase with software supplier to resolve issues.

Areas within the School requiring support (not in order)

Examinations
Timetabling
Cover
Assesment
Attendance
Reporting
Statutory reporting requirements

The ability to use CMIS and not go insane.

I would ensure that you use the full name Serco's Facility CMIS as some people don't seem to know it as CMIS or Serco CMIS or just Facility. That spec you found seems good though.

I am currentloy working in an 1800 student school in north london.

doing most of what is in your job description for the last 4-5 years.

Not insane yet!!! but there is always time.

Could be looking at a move subject to remuneration and hols.

Any idea what these jobs are going for

Salary is important as I have seen this type of job go for anything from 15,000-35,000.

I may have a few descriptions around, I'll have a hunt for them.

Be aware that there is very limited experience out there so you are probably looking at training from scratch.

There seems to be a lot of variation in jobs for MIS duties. At our place, little bits are done by different members of the SLG and other admin people - although we use SIMS which may be a totally different story to CMIS.

For example:
Our Exams and Cover Officer deals with everything to do
Examinations & Cover.

Timetabling & Assessment & Reporting - A member of SLG [AHT] deals with that. Admin then just print timetables for staff and students. Although assessment data input/print/collation/chasing is done by Admin.
Reporting it linked totally with Assessment - SLG and admin.

Attendance & Statutory Reporting Requirements are dealt by Finance & Information Services Team.

SO1 scale i would think would be abous right. Something like 44 weeks per year would be. If your advertise as a Database Administrator, they'll want dba money.
