    XP or Vista

Silly question really... getting new admin pc’s to run sims, fms, office 2007 and the old OCR register reader over the holiday. Should I install XP or Vista?

    Which do you prefer?

What are all the other machines in the school - XP, Vista or Mixed?

Does all the software run under Vista?

Meh, personally I'd stick with XP, but that's just me. I'm weird like that, I mean I prefer Apples for god sake

Depends really, i'm guessing everywhere else in school is running windowsxp so i would stick with that until you plan on upgrading to server 2k8 and windows 7

Thats my personal thought, suppose it does really depend on weather your comfortable in giving them vista and supporting all the problems it chucks at you.

But i would personally wait until windows 7 get's released and you do a Complete/Partial site upgrade.

XP, wait for a 6 months after Windows 7 is released then upgrade to that. Everything will have been ironed out. Vista is alright, just hogges system resources, so remember extra spec if you do go Vista.

Stick with XP as vista and the document and settings vs users directory can cause issues.
