    Capita Support for Win 7.0

I am not from capita so I cannot directly speak for them, however I can tell you that as a SIMS Direct site, we have been told that Windows 7 will be supported 6 months from release date.

So far the only app that I have found to be a complete no-go is FMS.. everything else works fine - EO, SysMan,etc

Still had to apply the old fix for NETUI that we needed for Vista..

Sounds like your setups directory is out of date. What version is your simsinst?

Assuming that everything goes to plan we should be able to support Windows 7 from the October release. We've tested SIMS and there are very few issue.

FMS relies on some function calls that MS have not ported to Windows 7. We are writing and testing subsitute functions.

Fantastic! I didn't expect it so soon, that's another piece of software to tick off my list :P

That's great news . If its supported from the October release I think I may have to look at moving the staff laptops over to Windows 7 at Christmas. Full HD encryption with AD integration for no extra cost (and the centralised management of being tied into AD) is too tempting not to roll out

Excellent - especially about FMS - the sooner we can get it off RemoteApps the better!!

I can't see any mapped drives using Simsinst.exe (v1.574.2.0), is there an updated version that works with Windows 7?

I think I saw something from Capita which said October/November release would be Win7-compatible.

    Quote from Capita

'Currently with the Autumn release we are looking at Windows 7 with SIMS used as a client only. Therefore it would be on 32 bit Windows 7 only, not 64 bit Windows 7.
However, just to state that our support level for Windows 7 is not confirmed yet as we are still working on compatibility and testing with this very new (pre-release) Operating System. A news item will be posted on Supportnet with an official support date and scope of support once its confirmed.

Mark: For definite, the SIMS Autumn 2009 release will not be supported on Windows Server 2008 R2!'

Are you still on course for supporting it from the October release Phil?
