i am just checking to see if any body else is experiencing time out errors when trying to run a report such as data collection sheets etc. When you try and run the various reports, you get a window apppear stating that the report may take a while to run (so capita are aware that reports can take a while, what will happen when sims.net is being used more and more when you start adding elements such as learning gateway etc) i have tried the report with such a one pupil selected and still get the same result
We have xp machines with 512mb ram, 2.4ghz celeron cpu's. hp pro curve switches that are connected the servers via gig link. The server is only two years old zeon with 1gig ram and 40gig free storage!
Is anybody else out there using sims.net having this type of issue?
thanks

we are running with MSDE as our database engineon our sims server, would there be a gain in performance if we moved to full blown sql 2000 server? Also would it be more efficient if we had a seperate sql server? at the moment our sims server is aour AD server, file server, Wsus server< AV server and ablout 100 clients

I've seen this problem, particularly with lesson monitor.
We have full SQL on a server with 4gig RAM which does nothing but sims.
And some reports we run still have to be done over night or the whole system grinds to a halt.
Just praying that when everything is .net they can look at these perfomance issues.
