    @Sivadam
    Yes, I posted just before Jonathon Wood did, shame the SupportNet post doesn't have the post time.

    @Simcfc73
    Didn't you read the notes first? Like the bit about the extra load caused by the new homepage?

    Extra load where? On the client or the server?

    Sigh... Both. The page it's self it a little bit more weighier, however, if you in the Capita min spec you should be fine. The point Capita made was with regards to the homepage checks for updates on each of the fields every few seconds, ok, it's only like a few bits, but when you have thounsands of users it does start to add up.

    Yes, thin client or SLG2 user fine. Fat client, well, put the video of you waiting for it to load.

    PS: You might want to adjust your CPU - RAM\HDD ratio to something a bit more realistic.

    I suppose I'll find out when we test it, but can a default homepage layout be specified yet? I know Capita were suggesting it would be possible to turn some homepage elements off by default in the future but I forget how far into the future that was going to be!

    Unless there are any essential new fixes in there I think we'll employ the usual "watch Supportnet for 2 weeks" approach before installing.

    Yes you can add\remove stuff from your homepage, it's really is a good new feature, not sure about setting up a default homepage for your school. Something I didn't check... my bad.

    Back in the day, when SIMS first went .net, we had a Celeron, 128mb, 40gb hdd, running ok... assuming you didn't mind having a lot of tea breaks, which suited some of us

    I think from June update you can force panels onto the homepage for certain classes of user. And, it may even be semi-intelligent.
    So, if you force an attendance panel it knows heads of year see it for their year group, form tutors their form etc..

    Wonder what happens if your a head of year with a form group?

    Na, shouldn't happen, I guess it happens somewhere tho. Mmm... wait and see I guess.

    Can't wait for the March Installable, another new SIMSinst... hopefully with the ability to say where to install SQL 2005, and switches.

    You can have two pannels - one for the year group and one for the form. In fact as a HoY you might want a separate pannel for each form?

    But what will it do by default automatically?

    Yes, the new homepage is great. Already had people asking about it, appears some of the Dec manuals etc didn't have all the new homepage features removed. I believe it was the attendance officer's at one of the high schools who wanted the missing regs.

    Just waiting for it to be intergrated into Outlook.
