I believe Realtime data is no longer required after a government rethink.
We have SLG and are really starting to get our teeth into it. Staff seem to enjoy the possibility of accessing attendance, assessment, personal data as well as being able to produce their student reports via the profiles webpart. I admit we had a lot of these things in place before we moved to SLG but this has allowed us to use SLG as our overarching umbrella with all utilise within it.
I am going into assemblies next week to show all students in their year groups how they can access their information online also. Up to now since September I don't have anything bad to say about it.
The one thing I will say it is only going to be as good as the data you currently hold in SIMS.

23rd February 2009, 06:57 PM #17 Not wishing to do myself out of a sale - the requirement doesn't actually require up to the second data. However, some LAs do say that as they take legal action against parents when their children aren't at school, they owe it to the parents to provide real-time data.
SLG offers you much more than real time reporting. It offers teachers a chance to work over the internet on their data.

No worries, every 5 or 10 minutes shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far...
Can anyone provide some real concrete information with regards to the 2010 requirements? I'm hearing lots of contradictory comments elsewhere myself.

Phil, its certainly the best place to visit if you want to come away thoroughly confused about what data should be provided, what the Impact Levels of data fields are, whether teachers always require 2-factor authentication etc. etc. (cont p.94)

Agreed.
Well interestingly enough, whilst having a casual chat with our council helpdesk people, apparently our LA may be taking care of the entire solution...
