    SIMS.NET KB77558

Our Data inputter keeps getting the "Since you began editing memberships for this Student, some of the memberships have been changed on another workstation. This affects the following Scheme(s) ......." message.

On the Capita Support site I've found:

KB77558 - Academic Management message about another workstation

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Created 22/02/2008
    Last Updated 06/05/2008

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Affected Products SIMS .net Academic

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes Focus | School | Academic Structure
On any of the curriculum assignment routes the message can appear:
Since you began editing memberships for this Student, some of the memberships have been changed on another workstation. This affects the following Scheme(s) .......
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Advice Users should not attempt to edit memberships for the same schemes at the same time, otherwise this message will appear.
Saving the changes might lose changes made on the other workstation. If not many changes have been made, exit without saving and check what other users have been working on. Ensure that their work is saved. (Ideally the workstation where the most work has been done should do the save.)
Sometimes the message appears when only one person is working in this route. This can be because of an earlier unsuccessful save either on the same workstation or another workstation. In these circumstances the user should save and exit. Then re-enter and check the schemes indicated in the message. In the unlikely event of large amounts of data being incorrect, the SLK export / import mechanism can be used to restore the data.

I've also logged a call with our LEA support and am awaiting a reply.

Has anybody else had this issue and is the advice given the only solution?

    Many thanks!

    @tech_guy:
have had an issue which closed down the exam officers session this morning and she was in Academic Structure, no error code as she said it was too quick for her (what she means is she doesn't know how to take a screen dump even though she has been shown umpteen times)
If I get any more info will post.

I've had the same issue, and it caused a bit of strife but nothing major.

All heads of department use the curriculum assignment by scheme to assign students to sets. Once i changed the timetable while it was going on, and once i was changing base bands due to changes in the pastoral structure.

The users were unable to save or got a funny error message. Luckily the number of changes they tend to make are relatively small.

I try to make the curriculum assignment changes late in the day when others wont be working, here that is after around 3.30pm. Or in the case of timetables, i email and warn affected parties that there is a window during which some spurious changes may occur that need to be reversed.

This tends to work pretty well. Don't have any other solution as yet.

    EDIT:

Was this silly thing where you had two people editing the same year. Poss overlapping? Or am I thinking about another school?
