How much RAM does sims.net use?

    Hi guys

bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question.

we have 1440 pupils all secondary
    we have 200 staff

    we use RM finance

Currently we have a lack of performance on this server, sqlsvr is using 1,477,000 of ram, so 1.5Gb out of 3 Gb available..

anyone have a similar set up ?

how much ram should be used up by sql?

    Many Thanks

    Tony

Uses about a gig on ours.

I think sql server uses as much as it can get hold of.

Indeed, the more you chuck at SQL Server, the more it will use.

SQL Express is limited to 1GB (approx)

SQL 32bit will use about 2gb max (32bit application limit)
I think I've heard of people needing to change the memory usage in SQL manager

Intel dual Xeon 2.8Ghz Raid 5 over 4 disks with 5th hotswap spare.
2Gb Ram and no problems with speed, login times approx 15secs for Sims user page.
Only have approx 100 staff here and approx 800 pupils but runs fine.
SQL server is enterprise version but never had to streamline.
You may have problems with your antivirus wanting to read the files all the time so you may want to configure your antivirus to exclude the Sims files.

Repeat post due to Internet problems on ISP side not being that fast hehe!
