Would like to hold of until Feb but my EMS team are desperate for the december fixes to sort out our datafeed problems.

Equally being realistic there is every possibility the Feb Release could be delayed

I wish you good luck with that, from what I've heard the next full upgrade'll be March.

Edit: Just checked the road map, no February release has been planned at any point by the looks of it.

Perhaps the best way forward is to assume that there will be a release every month, which will be released late in the month and delayed.

If we do this then we can be please on the months when there actually is no release and ready when there is one

That isn't actually true though, is it Phil. According to the extract quoted at the start of this thread, now that Dec is out, we cannot install any patches until we've upgraded.

Thankfully, I put a patch on last week, but if I hadn't done that I would currently be forced into an installation on Day 1 (Mark II) of the release, which isn't something I ever do if I can help it.

There is a reason that those of us who can wait before installing do so - what you have now done is force us to upgrade to the next bugged soon-to-be-pulled update so that we can install a patch to correct the last bugged re-released update. Not impressed, not impressed one bit.

What? You can still install patches, even if you're not on the latest release, there are a few exceptions. If the patch and the release are both in your SOLUS list you just phone your SIMS support team and ask them to remove the release.

So what it says in the extract above is, in effect, rubbish?

Agreed, so long as your central unit either remove the authorisation or don't authorise.

In which case, I'm less outraged than I was.

Please bear in mind that once a school has been authorised for this release, they will be required to complete the December upgrade before applying any subsequent patches via SOLUS.
Not exactly rubbish. If you are authorised for the upgrade, then you'll need to apply it before you can apply any more patches via SOLUS. If you get the upgrade un-authorised, or apply patches via another method, then you can continue to apply them.

Having had the discussions about what is a release and when it should be released, has anyone actually installed it?

We have to install it here because it's claimed it fixes a bug we raised in September, but, as always, I like to know someone else has successfully installed it before I take the plunge.

So, if you've installed it was it OK?

Yes, we installed it this morning.

New logo and new splash, nothing broken yet.
