    SIMS September Release

I need to update SIMS to a newer version, and to my horror find that the day I was going to do that, Capita have released the next update. Has anyone installed this yet? I really don't want to be the first one to do so...

Nick, full details of our release plan are available on SupportNet - the Roadmap tells you exactly what is on each release so that you can decide whether you have to take it or not.

Sept is a minor fixes release.

I don't really have much choice about taking it, though - I need to upgrade because you apparently don't support Feb08 any more, and now that the potentially-bugged September release is out, I am unable to download the known-working August release.

depends on who controls your downloads. If you have a local lea support team then they should be able to release august for you to download using solus.

We do use Solus but are supported direct from Capita.

    We're installing September tomorrow morning.

Think we're the first in the county, which is always nice

I would have thought that Capita should allow you to install the august release. As Phil has stated this is not a major release but a minor release!

We are not planning to release this to any primary as the only changes appear to affect Secondary schools and exams.

Ah - I'm at a Secondary School and need am having a problem with Exams Organiser. Perhaps I should risk the upgrade anyway in that case!!

Bet ya too it. I got it before 4pm yesterday. Helps knowing the right people in Capita.

If you don't want Sept, just August and your supported by Capita, you could the Capita helpdesk either by email: sims.support@capita.co.uk or by telephone 01234 832020

    EDIT:
Or download the August '08 CD image.

@Phil - SupportNet is all very well providing your LEA dont get all huffy and have your login disabled! (some sort of territorial dispute over support for SIMS!)

Will keep my eyes open for the update though!!

Gatt, I know that a few LAs discourage schools from using it but it is open to all schools to get an account.

Update installed in 8 minutes including back up, database validation afterwards took closer to 15 but it reckons it fixed some stuff so yay for that.
